Hazen tennis wins one, loses one

The Hazen Highlander boys tennis team ended last week with a win, but began this week with a loss as they continue to adjust to life in the North Puget Sound League.

The Hazen Highlander boys tennis team ended last week with a win, but began this week with a loss as they continue to adjust to life in the North Puget Sound League.

On Friday, Hazen traveled to Mt. Rainier where they pulled out a 3-2 win over the Rams. The Highlanders were led by their doubles teams, with the first team of Marcus Lee and James Chen winning 6-1. 6-0 and the third doubles team of Alex Huynh and Brandon Chea winning 6-3, 7-5. The second doubles pairing of Logan Ricord and Tyler Holm fell 5-7, 4-6.

In singles play, Dylan Kittay dropped his first singles match 5-7, 2-6, but second singles player Sohil Shah won by default to give Hazen the match victory.

On Monday, the Highlanders hosted Kentwood with the Conquerers living up to their mascot name 3-2.

Hazen got wins from Shah at second singles, who bested his opponent 6-1, 6-1 and the third doubles team of Hunyh and Chea, who won their match 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.

Hazen moves to 3-3 on the season and are scheduled to play at Kent-Meridian Wednesday and to host Kentlake on Friday.
