The Liberty girls basketball season came to an end Tuesday night against Mount Si. The Wildcats edged Liberty 42-40 in the first round of the KingCo 3A/2A playoffs.

The Patriots (8-13 overall, 5-7 KingCo 3A/2A) finished the season fifth in the league.

Liberty went into the half up by one point, but couldn't find a rhythm offensively in the third quarter and scored just two points.

Maddie Birdsall, Halie Ericksen and Breanne Faehnrich all scored nine points each to lead Liberty. Aspen Winegar added six and Danni Sjolander scored five.

Liberty split two games with Mount Si during the regular season. In the first meeting Dec. 9, the Patriots coasted to a 60-45 win. In the most recent meeting Jan. 22, the Wildcats won 57-46 on the strength of a 26-7 run in the second quarter.
