Three Liberty wrestlers earn regional titles, six advance to state | Wrestling

Liberty had a very strong showing at the 3A Region I Tournament at Liberty Feb. 13.

The Patriots finished third as a team and three wrestlers took regional titles.

Wright Noel beat Eastside Catholic's Jake Cowin in the finals at 140 pounds to earn a regional title.

Hamilton Noel beat Ingraham's Michael Tran at 145 pounds for the title.

Brandon Studer won a 7-0 decision over Juanita's Logan McCallum at 171 pounds.

Jay Chakravarty also made the finals and fell to O'Dea's Gino Clement.

Wright Noel, Hamilton Noel, Studer, Chakravarty, along with Dan Velasquez (112 pounds) and Chris Harlin (215) will all wrestle at state.

The 3A state wrestling match is Feb. 19-20 at the Tacoma Dome.
