Baseball

Highlanders take on Trojans in playoffs

Hazen plays an SPSL/Seamount sub-district game against Auburn this afternoon at 4 p.m. at Russell Road Park in Kent.

The Highlanders finished the regular season in second place in the Seamount League, with a 12-3 overall record.

Auburn (12-5 overall, 10-4 SPSL 3A) finished in second place in the SPSL.

Eagles meet Enumclaw in sub-districts

Lindbergh played a sub-district game last night against Enumclaw.

The Eagles (8-7, 7-7) took fourth place in the Seamount League. Enumclaw (7-11, 5-9) finished in fifth place in the SPSL.

Softball

Eagles fall to Kennedy, playoffs next

Lindbergh fell to Kennedy 12-0 on Wednesday. The Eagles (7-6, 7-6) still hold on to third place and will move on to the SPSL/Seamount sub-districts, which start on May 8.

Kennedy (16-0, 15-0) takes first place in the Seamount League with an undefeated season and will also move on to sub-districts.

Eagles take out Renton in final regular season match

Lindbergh beat Renton 5-4 on April 29. No. 1 boys singles: Ray Nacario (L) beat Jan Ramos, 6-0, 6-1. No. 2 boys singles: Chris Lee (R) beat Lee Le, 6-3, 2-3. No. 1 boys doubles: Ulysses Lane/T.J. Bayna (L) won by forfeit. No. 2 boys doubles: Ted Bui/Steven Le (R) beat Earnest Thomas/Joe Williams, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.

No. 1 girls singles: Heidi Saechao (R) beat Bern Collado, 6-4, 6-3. No. 2 girls singles: Amber Hiranaka (L) beat Sinear Sadang, 6-4, 6-4. No. 1 girls doubles: Sirena Choung/Hailey Corson (R) beat Janelle Pioquinto/Mary Nguyen, 6-4, 6-7, 6-4. No. 2 girls doubles: Kayce Callen/Elyssa Hanson (L) beat Julie Saechao/Aime Poquiz, 7-6, 7-6.

Mixed doubles: Johnathan Milanoski/Erin Johnson (L) beat Justin Wu/Adina Sounthala, 6-0, 6-4.

Basketball

Renton beats Liberty in BCC Spring League

Renton beat Liberty 56-50 Tuesday in a Bellevue Community College Spring League game.

Through Wednesday, the Indians were tied for second place with a 5-0 record. The team played Eastside Catholic Thursday evening.

Liberty (0-5) met Roosevelt (1-4) on Thursday.

Hazen (0-5) is also taking part in the spring league.

Twenty-three teams are playing in the league and the top 16 go into a playoff. The playoff starts on May 13 and goes May 22, when the championship game is played.
