Lindbergh, Hazen take on Auburn Summer League | Boys basketball
The Hazen and Lindbergh boys basketball team are competing in the Auburn Summer League.
Through June 30, the Eagles stood at 4-4, sixth out of 11 Sound Division teams. The Highlanders are 1-7, in 10th place.
Auburn and Bellarmine Prep are each 7-1 and lead the Sound Division. Tahoma and Kent-Meridian are each 7-1 and lead the Mountain Division.
Lindbergh went 8-13, but got hot late in the year and finished one game short of the 2A state tournament.
Senior James Keum returns as one of the league's top players. Keum was third in the Seamount in scoring at 19.7 points per game. Keum also led the team in assists (3.7 per game), rebounds (6.6) and steals (2.3).
Hazen went 21-7 and made the 3A state tournament last season under coaches James Olive and Gary Schaplow. Ryan Thompson takes the team over this year.
The Highlanders lost many of their top players to graduation, including four of their top five scorers, plus team leaders in assists and rebounds.Seniors Frankie Johnson (6.0 points, 3.9 assists, 1.8 steals) and Dawit Kasa (12.0 points, 5.8 rebounds) will lead the team this year.
