Preserve fire services in the Fairwood area

My family has been living in Candlewood (within Fairwood) for almost 20 years.

Since we’ve lived here, there have been three emergencies where we needed to call “911.” During the fear we were undergoing, for my wife having a heart attack, or a possible natural gas leak, the fire department (or emergency ambulance) was at our door within four minutes. The Fire Station 40 came to our need faster then we could believe. Thank you Fire Station 40.

I’ve heard that in the future we could lose part of the heroic staffing from Fire Station 40, which would force needed help to travel here from the Benson station. That could take another 10 or 15 minutes longer. A catastrophe could get far worse in that additional time. I don’t want to give up that protection for my family’s sake, nor any of the other danger that the rest of the neighborhood could be at risk of.

For this one reason alone, I would say vote for Fairwood.
