Commissioners need to assess their roles in strategic alliance | Letter to the editor

January 10, 2013 · Updated 12:32 PM

Now that the King County Superior Court has decided that the Valley Medical-University of Washington Medical alliance is permitted under state law, it seems the right time for the three disgruntled hospital district commissioners to assess their roles within the framework of the alliance. The suggestion by the district’s counsel (who, by the way, was hired to find “problems” with the alliance and then to represent the district in court) to appeal to the state Supreme Court seems to be just another step to use our tax dollars on an iffy claim. Perhaps the commissioners who have tried to sabotage the alliance should consider either changing attitudes and support the alliance constructively or simply resign from the district board.
