LILA VITCERA KAROLINA HOUSER

Lila Houser, a long-time Renton resident died peacefully on September 30, 2017, with her family by her side. She was born in Seattle in 1922 to Swedish parents. Lila grew up primarily in Vancouver, BC with her aunt following the death of her mother in 1928. She returned to Seattle when she was 17 and graduated from Roosevelt High School.

Lila is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Houser and her husband, Dennis Wackerbarth; her son Paul (Bud) Houser, Jr. and his wife Amy; and her five grandchildren, Ryan, Cora and Matt Houser and Joel and Jesse Wackerbarth.

Lila was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Paul Houser, and their son, Patrick.

In her twenties, Lila attended business school and worked at the King County Courthouse. She moved to Renton in 1953 after marrying Paul. Lila loved to cook, entertain, and spend time with her family and friends. Lila was very creative and enjoyed sewing and arts and crafts. She also worked for many years in the fabric department at Frederick & Nelson at Southcenter.

Lila served on the Advisory Board and volunteered for the Renton (Kiwanis) Clothes Bank for over 30 years. She also volunteered for 20+ years at Valley Medical Center’s Flower Shop.

Lila was loved and will be missed by many. A Memorial Service and gathering will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017, 11:00am, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 314 S. 4th St., Renton.
