John Aldo Bertagni

John Aldo Bertagni, native of Renton, WA, age 88, beloved husband of Eleanor Bertagni (nee Wilson) for 66 years, dear father of Steven (Cheryl) Gayl (deceased) and Jane Evans (Todd) and wonderful “Papa” to Jennifer (Eddie) Derham, Bianca (Casey Beach) Sanders, Gina Bertagni, Givanna Bertagni and Emily, Mackenzie and Joe Evans and great grandchildren, Joseph and Michael Derham. John was preceded in death by his Italian immigrant parents, Pasquina Franchini and Lorenzo Bertagni and grew up in North Renton with siblings Lauretta (Jim) Natucci, Jennie (Larry) Bozzello, Enzo “Hans”(Loretta) Bertagni and Diane Bertagni. John was a cherished uncle and cousin to many.

John was proud of Renton, was a member of the Class of 1945 at Renton High School. After 42 years of service in Renton for ?the U.S. Postal Service, he focused on a new career at Maplewood Golf Course. He enjoyed years of officiating as a member of the Pacific Northwest Officials Association and the Northwest Umpires Association. He was a proud founding member of St. Stephen the Martyr Church, the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club International and the U.W. Tyee Club with over 50 years of support and loyalty to the UW Football and Marching Band programs.

Contributions in John’s honor may be made to the Renton Historical Society, 235 Mill Avenue South, Renton, WA 98057 or the Renton Lions Club Youth Program. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Stephen the Martyr, on Tuesday, June 28 at 11:00 am.
