Irene Jeanette McMahill Gustafson

Irene Jeanette McMahill Gustafson (nee Brown) passed away June 18th, 2008. She was born August 14, 1927 and grew up in Port Angeles. She married fellow Roosevelt High School alumni Bernard McMahill and settled in the Seattle area where worked as a newspaper and radio journalist, and managed Personal Counselors for 30 years. In 1979 she married Andrew “Fred” Gustafson and lived the remainder of her life on Hick’s Lake in Lacey. In 1986 Irene achieved a life long dream by graduating from Evergreen State College with a B.A. in Humanities.She was an avid writer, photographer, bridge player, and volunteer.Irene was preceded in death by her husband Fred, son John McMahill and grandson Levi. She is survived by her daughter Teresa McMahill of Portland, son Scott (Robin) McMahill of Renton, daughter Cheiron McMahill of Japan, stepson Wayne (Chris) Gustafson of Seattle, beloved friend Evelyn Carver of Lacey, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.There will be no funeral by her request.96932
