The 61-year-old man was hiking Chair Peak near the Snow Lake area of Snoqualmie Pass when he did not return home.

A 61-year-old Renton man died over the weekend after he reportedly fell down a cliff at Chair Peak.

Around 6 p.m. Sept. 28 the man’s wife called 911 to report her husband had not returned home from his hike at Chair Peak near the Snow Lake area of Snoqualmie Pass.

King County Search and Rescue responded with 70 volunteers Saturday morning in an attempt to locate him, a media release from the King County Sheriff’s Office stated.

The release stated they were able to access his Garmin GPS coordinates online and located him at the bottom of the cliff.

It is estimated that he fell about 100 feet.

Due to wind, Guardian 2 was unable to hoist him out. However, King County Search and Rescue was able to pack him out after a four hour hike.
