Renton again offering neighborhood grants

The City of Renton is now accepting applications for 2012 neighborhood mini-grants designed to strengthen its neighborhoods. Mini-grants are available to neighborhood organizations and associations within Renton that have applied for and received official recognition and are considered current through the city’s Neighborhood Program.

The City of Renton is now accepting applications for 2012 neighborhood mini-grants designed to strengthen its neighborhoods.

Mini-grants are available to neighborhood organizations and associations within Renton that have applied for and received official recognition and are considered current through the city’s Neighborhood Program.

Mini-grants up to $1,000 are available for programs or projects when matched through sweat equity or neighborhood funds and must be completed in the year for which they are applied.  The grant allows neighborhoods to take advantage of opportunities for projects such as a neighborhood cleanup, physical improvements, meeting space rental, supplies for IKEA Renton River Days parade, and/or educational workshops.

Applications will be accepted throughout the year while funds are available. Applications will be reviewed by a multi-departmental team and grants will be awarded based on the project’s merit.  Grant projects must be completed by Nov. 16.

A workshop is 6 p.m.-7 p.m. May 22 at Renton City Hall for those interested.
