Random shooting injures one woman on Wednesday

The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and is now in stable condition.

A Tri-City woman sustained non-life threatening injuries on Wednesday, March 22, in what appears to be a random shooting in Renton.

The 22-year-old woman was backing out of a restaurant parking lot, with her 3-year-old daughter and a passenger in the car, around 9:20 p.m at the 200 block of Southwest Seventh Street. The suspect walked up to the car and fired approximately six rounds before running away, according to a press release.

The victim was shot in the leg. The passenger and the 3 year old were uninjured.

Renton Police K9 was able to track down the suspect at a nearby location where she was arrested without incident.

According to the release, the suspect was a 32-year-old female. She refused to talk to the police and her motive for the shooting remains unknown. The release also stated, “it appears the suspect and victim did not know each other.”

The suspect was booked into King County Jail for assault.

The victim was taken to Valley Medical Center and is now in stable condition.

Police is still investigating the shooting and is asking anyone with further information on the case to contact the police department.
