Parklets, new businesses ‘Pop-Up Downtown’ on Friday | SLIDESHOW

The newly-renovated Cortana Building - the former home of Renton Western Wear - served as the center of the event.

The city celebrated the opening of news businesses downtown on Friday with its first-ever Pop-Up Downtown event, which also included three ‘parklets’ built and opened in parking spaces along Third Street South and Wells Avenue.

The newly-renovated Cortana Building – the former home of Renton Western Wear – served as the center of the event as Urban Sprouts, the building’s first tenant since being listed on the Historic Register and being renovated, opened their doors for the first time.

In addition, a “Pop-Up Shop” featuring arts and crafts, as well as a space in which artists were not only working but displaying their wares, filled the Cortana Building.

The three parklets were opened in front of the Cortana Building, the Comic Hut, and Four Generals Brewery on Wells, which this summer also hosted a grand opening.
