One injured in Saturday shooting

The victim was contacted at a convenience store and had a gunshot wound to his torso.

Renton police are investigating a shooting incident Saturday morning in a 7-11 parking lot in the 11500 block of Southeast 168th Street that sent one man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following what he said was a carjacking attempt.

According to a police report, officers were dispatched to the store at 4:38 a.m. Saturday and found the victim in the drivers seat of his truck, parked in the lot, with a gunshot wound to his torso. There were also several bullet holes in the door and sides of the truck’s bed.

The subject had a loaded 9 mm handgun next to him in the truck.

According to the report, the incident appeared to occur near the pipeline road off of 116th Avenue Southeast. Units responded to that area and found several spent casings and an empty magazine, according to the police report.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
