Man tells mother world would be better if ‘people like her’ stop having babies | BLOTTER

The following information was compiled from Renton Police Department’s incident reports.

Police responded to multiple reports of an alleged assault on June 30 at the bank on the 100 block of Logan Avenue South.

A man at the scene said he was in line at the bank near a woman with a 4-month-old baby who was crying. He said he told the woman the world would be a better place if people like her would stop having babies and she should get married.

Another customer then got in between them and hit him on the chest. The man said he was assaulted and wanted to press charges.

Another witness recounted the situation, but said, “Well, she did touch him but I don’t know that she hit him.”

The acting branch supervisor told the officer the man was a good and valued customer, but the statement he made to the woman was rude and offensive. When the officer told the supervisor the man said he was assaulted, she responded, “She did not hit him. That’s crap.”

The customer who got in between the man and the woman said she did not hit him but did step in between them to prevent the situation from escalating.

Based on all the accounts, the officer told the man he did not believe there was probable cause an assault an occurred, but he would take a report and request a video surveillance footage from the bank.

The man said this was unacceptable to him and that, “You don’t know who I know.”

He said he knew a commander in the Renton Police Department. The officer attempted to contact the commander the man named, but as soon as the man heard him make the request, he said, “I don’t want you to call (the commander). I want you to document that I don’t want him to come down here. I’m recording that I told you not to ask (the commander) to come here.”

The man then said he didn’t want to write a statement anymore and that he wanted to wait to see what the officer’s report was before he made any written statement.

Missing purse: On June 28, an officer was dispatched to the QFC parking lot on the 4000 block of Northeast Fourth Street after reports of a woman who was angry at a metro bus driver.

The woman alleged someone stole her purse but the bus driver claims she never had a purse.

When the officer arrived on scene, the woman said she got on the bus at the Renton downtown transit center and she had her purse hung across her body at the time. Somewhere around the 600 block of Monroe Avenue. Northeast, all passengers except for the woman exited the bus. As the bus continued on its route, she said she realized her purse was missing.

After she looked around the bus, she became angry and demanded the driver to stop the bus. She said she believed the driver could locate the suspect, but couldn’t explain how this was possible. Then she said she didn’t even know where she was. The officer said she was in the city of Renton, then she snapped at him and said she knew that already but didn’t know exactly where in Renton she was. The officer said she was in the Renton Highlands, but the woman snapped again and said she knew that already.

She asked the officer if she could be dropped off at the bus stop near Monroe, where she was supposed to get off (the very spot she said she last remembered having her purse). The officer asked her to explain why she didn’t get off at the bus stop, but she was unable to understand what she was being asked, and demanded she get a ride.

The officer agreed to give her a ride. During the drive, the woman asked for the police report number for this case, but the officer said he could only give it to her once they arrive at the location. The woman then said she had her EBT card, her Washington ID in her purse. She also said there were credit cards in her purse, but was unable to identify which banks they were from.

When they arrived at the location, the woman left the patrol vehicle and walked away while mumbling something about finding the people who stole her purse.
