Human remains found in wooded area off Hardie

Renton Police officers confirmed the remains were human and may have been on the location since sometime in 2015.

Human remains, probably those of a male of somewhat advanced age, were found Monday evening above downtown Renton at Hardie Avenue Southwest and Renton Avenue Extension.

The remains were reported to Renton Police by a resident who discovered skeletal remains in a wooded area abutting his property, according to the Renton Police Department.

Renton Police officers confirmed the remains were human and may have been on the location since sometime in 2015.

The decedent may have had light-colored hair, and osteoarthritic deposits may indicate either somewhat advanced age or considerable wear, according to a department news release.

No obvious signs of foul play found, according to police. Detectives documented and secured the scene overnight, and completed processing of the scene once daylight returned.

Detectives have turned the remains over to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. The medical examiner will identify the remains and determine and the cause and manner of death.
