Father, son wounded by accidental gun discharge

Both sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to Harborview Medical Center.

Two people were taken to the hospital after sustaining injuries from an accidental gun discharge Oct. 19.

According to a Renton Police Department press release, a twenty-year-old man and his fifty-year-old father sustained non-life threatening gunshot wounds when the 20 year old tried to interchange the slide from a 9mm gun, not realizing it was still loaded. When the slide slammed forward, the gun fired a round.

The bullet hit the 20 year old in the hand and then the 50 year old in the hip. Both were taken to Harborview Medical Center.
