Bloody nose and a false statement | POLICE BLOTTER

This week’s blotter includes fraudulent money at a casino, a purse snatch and an armed robbery.

The following information was compiled from Renton Police Department case reports.

An officer was dispatched to the Silver Dollar Casino parking lot on East Valley Road on Nov. 27 after reports of a fight. Upon arrival, an officer saw a gentleman clearing out a donation bin and asked him where the fight was. The man pointed to a silver vehicle that was parked across multiple spots in the middle of the parking lot.

A woman and two young children were in the car. While talking to the woman, a man with blood stains on his shirt and a laceration on his nose (likely from being punched in the face, the report said) approached the officer. The man “seemed agitated and was yelling about how he was ‘robbed’ and ‘assaulted.’”

According to the man, he and the woman picked up a friend who was in some sort of domestic situation with another female. They all arrived at the casino when the friend accused them for stealing his black jacket. The friend also reportedly robbed the man of $20, however the officer noted that the man would not elaborate on that particular matter. The friend suddenly began punching the man repeatedly in the face. Surveillance video later showed that it was a mutual fight, however the circumstances over which the fight broke out remain unclear.

When the officer asked the man for his name, he ran the provided information through the system but it came with no results. The officer then confirmed the man’s information with him at least five times and still was unable to get any results. He then asked the woman for the man’s name; she was able to provide only his last name. After running it through the system, the officer found the man’s real name, as well as his non-extraditable misdemeanor warrant out of Pierce County. He confronted the man regarding his warrant and said that it was out of Pierce County only. The man “immediately cheered up,” then “calmed down” and stated, “I’m good then!” The officer informed the man that he would be receiving a citation by mail for providing a false statement to a public servant.

Texas… hold up…: A casino manager called police when he noticed two males bet 11 fraudulent $20 bills — totaling $220 — on Nov. 27 at Silver Dollar Casino on East Valley Road.

The manager said he immediately noticed the bills were fake and confirmed it by placing a felt-tipped pen mark on one of the bills. He said both males appeared genuinely shocked and they requested he test the rest of the bills as well. The men left without identifying themselves and that they seemed genuinely upset about not knowing the bills were fraudulent.

Purse snatch: A woman was at the Fred Meyer at Renton Center Way on Nov. 27 when she stopped to watch a product demonstration when she placed her purse in the cart next to her. After watching the demonstration for approximately five minutes, she turned back to her cart and realized her purse was missing. None of the people around her (who were also watching the demonstration) were able to recall who took the purse.

The purse was a brown Michael Kors clutch — estimated value of $120 — containing multiple credit cards from different banks, as well as $140 in cash.

Surveillance cameras were unable to identify any suspects. There is no further suspect information at this time.

Armed robbery: Two armed males robbed a Shell gas station on North 30th Street on Nov. 25. One suspect, wearing a black American Eagle hoodie, gray gloves, white tennis shoes, blue jeans and a black bandana covering his face entered the store first and pointed a pistol at the employee behind the counter. The second suspect, wearing a navy blue sweatshirt, gray gloves, blue jeans and a black ski mask covering his face, entered second and stayed in front of the counter, aiming his pistol at the employee as well. The first suspect then went behind the counter and took the entire cash drawer, containing approximately $200. Both suspects then fled the scene in a red car. The victim was unable to get the license plate of the vehicle and there were no cameras outside the store. There is no other suspect information at the time.
