High water forces closure of lower walk of Cedar River Trail near Bronson

The lower walk of the Cedar River Trail near Bronson Bridge has water over the walkway and is closed until further notice, according to the City of Renton Web site.
Recent rains have pushed the flow of the Cedar River at Renton to about 2,000 cubic feet per second or cfs, according to the U.S. Geological Service Web site.
The river flow jumped dramatically on May 28, from about 500 cfs to about 1,200. The river has continued to rise since then.
The maximum flow for June 2 was 1,840 cfs, recorded in 2008.
Minor flooding can occur at 2,800 cfs, including water over Jones Road Southeast near 156th Avenue Southeast.
