ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATES: Interstate 405 and State Route 167

• Interstate 405 travelers should plan for an overnight ramp closure in Bellevue on Saturday due to construction activities.

Crews working for the Washington state Department of Transportation and Sound Transit are adding HOV lanes to the I-90 outer roadway between Mercer Island and Bellevue. They are also building new I-90 HOV on and off-ramps on Mercer Island and improving I-90 HOV access at Bellevue Way.

Crews will close the ramp from northbound I-405 to westbound and eastbound I-90 on Saturday at 11 p.m. The ramp will reopen by 7 a.m. the following morning. During the closure crews will remove and replace signing.

Drivers should follow the signed detour to the Northeast Eighth Street exit, where they can get back on southbound I-405 to get to either direction I-90.

• Next week, crews in Renton and Tukwila will continue work on the new bridge over Oakesdale Avenue Southwest, freeway widening work on I-405 from I-5 to State Route 167 and on SR 167 from I-405 to Southwest 41st Street and several retaining walls.

Nov. 3-6, during the night and early morning hours, crews may close two lanes on southbound SR 167 between I-405 and South 180th Street for roadway widening work.

• Crews will spend the next few weeks removing the pumps and piping that have diverted Thunder Hills Creek during the repair work to replace a culvert under Interstate 405 in downtown Renton that collapsed in a major winter storm about a year ago.

• Next week, crews in Bellevue will continue work on the new southbound I-405 bridge over I-90, the bridge over Southeast Eighth Street, freeway widening from 112th Avenue Southeast to Southeast Eighth Street and several retaining walls.

Nov. 3-6, during the night and early morning hours, crews may close up to two lanes in each direction on I-405 between 112th Avenue Southeast and I-90 for barrier, paving and drainage work. Crews may close up to three lanes in each direction on I-405 between Southeast Eighth Street and I-90 for barrier, paving, striping, and drainage work.

Crews may also close the following ramps:

– From southbound I-405 to eastbound I-90.

– From Southest Eighth Street to southbound I-405.

– From northbound I-405 to Coal Creek Parkway.

– From Coal Creek Parkway to northbound I-405.

– From 112th Avenue Southeast to northbound I-405.
