City to explain garbage, recycling service changes

The City of Renton and Waste Management are holding informational meeting about changes to the city’s garbage and recycling service scheduled to begin in January.

The new service features:

• More recycling options

• Wheeled carts - no more heavy cans and bins

• Single-container recycling - no sorting

• Every other week garbage collection

At the meetings, residents can check out the new garbage and recycling carts, get tips for reducing

waste, and learn about the services and rates planned for 2009.

The meetings:

•Saturday, Oct. 18, 1-2:30 p.m.

Highlands Neighborhood Center

800 Edmonds Ave. N.E., Renton

• Monday, Oct. 20, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Renton Senior Activity Center

211 Burnett Ave. N., Renton

• Tuesday, Oct. 21, 7-8:30 p.m.

Renton City Hall, seventh floor City Council chambers

1055 S. Grady Way, Renton

• Wednesday, Oct. 29, 7-8:30 p.m.

Cascade Elementary School

16022 116th Ave. S.E., Renton
