The Renton City Council will hold a public hearing Monday night on an agreement with Comcast for a five-year extension of its franchise to provide cable television service to Renton residents.

The hearing is one of the lead-off items at the council's meeting that begins 7 p.m. in council chambers, seventh floor, City Hall, 1055 Grady Way S.

As part of the agreement, the city will institute a 35-cent fee per subscriber to raise money to replace and upgrade equipment and facilities for the city's Channel 21.
