Man killed in crash loved kids, was artistic

The man killed in a one-car accident Aug. 13 is described by his family as a funny, artistic man who loved kids.
Charles H. Ruffin Jr. was killed at about 9 p.m. when the vehicle he was driving, reportedly at a high rate of speed, left Carr Road and hit a tree, according to Renton police.
A woman in the car was injured and treated at Harborview Medical Center.
An account has been set up at Washington Mutual Bank in Ruffin’s name to help support his children.
Ruffin attended Dimmitt and McKnight and Hazen High School, according to his sister, Latosha Ruffin, also of Renton. The family had moved to Renton from Seattle.
“He was very very well-liked,” said Ruffin. “He was very funny.”
And, he was an artist.
“He could definitely draw really good,” she said.
He loved kids, she said, and kids loved him.
A service is planned, but arrangements hadn’t yet been made by the Reporter’s deadline.
