Northbound I-5 reopens in Seattle; here's where to keep an eye on traffic before game

All lanes on northbound I-5 between South Spokane Street and the Washington State Convention Center reopened at about 9 a.m. Sunday, following a maintenance project.

The state Department of Transportation had said the lanes would reopen well before travel to the Seahawks game in Seattle.

Here's where to view the state's freeway traffic maps and cameras.

Three of four lanes closed 9:30 p.m. Friday  to replace the left side of four highway wide expansion joints. Northbound travelers were advised to use I-405 and SR 167 as alternatives, which increased traffic on those freeway.

Crews return next weekend to complete work on the right side of the expansion joints. This is part of critical safety work to replace 26 worn out expansion joints through downtown Seattle.

The work is on northbound I-5 between South Spokane Street and the Washington State Convention Center.
