Fire heavily damages Burien Annex, home of Burien Actors Theatre

A $10,000 reward has been offered for information that will assist an investigation of a suspicious fire that heavily damaged the Burien Annex in Burien Tuesday morning, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.

The building was once the Chelsea Elementary School, but it recent years has been used by nonprofit groups, including the Burien Actors Theatre which performs in the Burien Little Theater at annex.

The Burien Actors Theatre is currently presenting "Coney Island Christmas."

The fire started at about 6 a.m. in a portable toilet next to the theater building, according to Deputy BJ Myers, a spokesman for the King County Sheriff's Office. From there, the fire spread to the roof of the structure.

King County fire investigators are leading the investigation and they believe the fire was not accidental, according to Myers.

The Sheriff's Office and fire investigators are following up onĀ  possible leads but are asking for the public's help.
