Renton's Senior Services needs volunteer drivers
June 20, 2008 · Updated 1:50 PM
Senior Services’ Transportation Program, which provides an essential service to senior citizens by arranging transportation to medical appointments, needs more volunteer drivers.
Every week the program turns away up to 20 seniors who call for help due to the shortage of drivers, according to program officials.
Volunteers use their own vehicles to give seniors rides and choose the days, times, and areas in which to drive. Senior Services reimburses for mileage and parking costs and offers supplemental liability insurance.
For more information or to volunteer, call 206-748-7588 or 1-800-282-5815, or apply online at www.seniorservices.org.
