Washington state troopers are seeking additional witnesses to a collision Jan. 20 on State Route 509 in which three injured men ran from the scene, leaving one injured man behind.
Following an extensive search of the area, troopers found the three men at Highline Hospital receiving treatment for their injuries.
Witness reported at about noon Jan. 20 a silver Volkswagen Jetta traveling at high speeds in the left lane of southbound 509 near Cloverdale. A black Jeep changed lanes from the center lane into the left lane, not realizing the Jetta was approaching, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The Jetta, driven by a Seattle man, lost control and struck a red Honda Civic before it traveled onto the right shoulder and rolled over, according to the state patrol. The driver and two male passengers ran from the scene, leaving behind a front-seat passenger, a 45-year-old Seattle man with serious injuries.
The driver was booked into King County Jail under investigation of vehicular assault and felony hit and run following his treatment. Alcohol is believed to be involved in the collision, according to the state patrol.
The passengers are not facing any charges at this time. Damage to the Honda Civic was minor and the occupants did not report any injuries, according to the state patrol.
Washington State Patrol detectives are seeking witnesses to this collision that have not already provided statements. They are also seeking the occupants of a black Jeep that may be unaware of the Jetta and was traveling on State Route 509 when the collision occurred.
Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact Detective Russ Haake at 425-401-7717.
