Gov. Inslee returns to Renton's Talbot Hill Elementary

Gov. Jay Inslee returned to Talbot Hill Elementary School Monday, the kick off scene of his campaign for office last year.The visit fulfilled a promise Inslee made to the school's students to come back and share his plans for the state.
Talbot Hill Elementary has been recognized as of the state's most "Innovative Schools," according to a district post on Facebook. Talbot Hill is a MicroSociety school, where students create a microcosm of the real world, including starting and managing businesses, creating a governance structure with elected officials, judges and other positions.
Inslee talked to the students about his plans for Washington, which includes improving education, providing jobs, clean energy and improving health care. All the students in attendance were recently elected to school MicroSociety positions.
The students asked the governor about how the state could use natural gas and hybrid cars to cut emissions and reduce air pollution. They also asked about how he's going to provide more affordable health care and about living in the governor's mansion. Inslee gave the students advice as school leaders and encouraged them to participate in the political process.
The visit was planned by his Chief of Staff Mary Alice Heuschel, who is the district's former superintendent.
