Petrovitsky shut down as Renton police look for armed robber

April 26, 2012 · 4:51 PM

Renton Police and a SWAT team shut down part of Petrovitsky Road near Benson Highway in Renton Wednesday night to try to locate an armed robbery suspect.

The incident happened around 4:20 p.m. and the street was re-opened at about 10 p.m.

The man robbed a woman in an apartment after giving her a ride to pick up some medicine. He took her cell phone and prescription medications.

The woman believed that she saw the man return to an apartment, so SWAT was called out and the street was closed.

The man apparently used a gun in the robbery and was in an upper apartment, according to Terri Vickers, Renton police spokesperson.

The suspect was identified but not located.
