Police ask help to identify suspect who tried to lure Renton boy into truck

Renton Police are asking the public's help in identifying the suspect in an attempt to lure an 11-year-old boy into a truck Wednesday afternoon.

The attempt happened at about 3:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Ferndale Avenue Southeast when the driver told the boy to get into his truck and started to open the driver's side door.

The boy escaped by running away, according to police.

The suspect is a white male, possibly between 60 and 70 years old. He is described as medium height and weight, with a long gray-and-white beard. He has yellow teeth and was missing a tooth in the upper left part of his mouth.

The suspect’s vehicle was a newer dark blue pickup truck with four doors and a UW Huskies flag on the antenna. Anyone with information about possible suspects is asked to contact Detective Barfield of the Renton Police Department at 425-430-7500 and refer to case number 2010-12483.
