About 14,200 Renton students will go back to school Sept. 1, starting before this year’s late Labor Day weekend.
“People will probably tell you summer seems like it flew by, but we’re ready to get back and start teaching kids,” said spokesperson Randy Matheson.
Students in grades six, seven, 10 and 11 start a day late, Sept. 2, to give incoming sixth-graders and freshmen a chance to get familiar with the school.
School supply lists are available at popular department stores and are posted at individual schools with class lists.
Some lunch prices changed this year. Elementary meals are $2.25. Middle school lunches cost $2.75, and high school meals are $3.
Neighboring districts Kent and Tukwila also start Sept. 1, but Bellevue starts classes Aug. 30, and Seattle starts Sept. 9.
