Smithsonian traveling exhibit tour announced

Humanities Washington announced June 21 that the Renton History Museum among eight other Washington locations will host the Smithsonian Exhibit “Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America.”

The exhibit will tour Washington from March 2019 through May 2020 — making a stop in Renton from April 16 to May 28, 2020.

The exhibit examines how sports are not only a vehicle for exercise and competition but are also a reflection of our nation’s values and characters, a release stated.

Renton and the other locations were chosen based on the idea of reaching diverse communities, the release added.
