Talley High School senior presents poem before ‘Hamilton’ performance

Nia Campbell was one of the 15 chosen high school performers.

Students from Lindbergh and Talley high schools recently hung out with cast members of the Broadway play Hamilton. The students from two district high schools joined hundreds of others from around the region at the Paramount Theater in Seattle to watch the award-winning play and have discussions with the cast about history, race, and inspiration.

Students were asked to create their own performance piece (rap, song, poem, skit) about the time in history depicted in Hamilton.

Nia Campbell, a senior at Talley High, was one of only 15 presentations chosen to perform before the matinee. She performed her original poem “Dear Peter (A Letter from Rachel Faucet)”.

The opportunity was made possible by a EduHam grant from the Gilder Lehrman Group and the Rockefeller Foundation.
