Students at Renton Park Elementary school will perform The Lion King at 9:30 a.m. and again at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 1.

Marlene Creaser, music specialist at Renton Park, was awarded a grant offered through Music Theatre International.

The grant provided an 11 week curriculum that was taught to the third grade classes.

Scripts, CDs, three African djembe drums were also provided so the students could put on Lion King Kids, a 40 minute shortened version of the Lion King musical.

More than 90 students are involved in the production, Creaser said in a release.
