Renton elem. students' artwork on display at Carco Theatre
June 30, 2008 · Updated 4:15 PM
The new art show at Carco Theatre features work by the young hands of 13 Sierra Heights Elementary students.
The art encompasses a variety of mediums, including cloth blanket, tempura, collage, crayon, watercolor, acrylic, even egg yolk and Kool-Aid. The pieces will be exhibited in Carco’s lobby through Aug. 15.
Local artist Doug Kyes helped select the works for the show. Each work is a product of the school’s Art Docent program, in which students study famous artists and their art and then produce their own art.
“It’s just a beautiful show,” Kyes says.
The Renton Municipal Arts Commission selects artists for the Carco Theatre shows. To apply, visit the City of Renton Web site at www.rentonwa.gov and click on the Living tab and then the Renton Municipal Arts Commission tab.
