Renton History Museum presents 'A Series of Fortunate Events: The Charles Mitchell Story Feb. 23

In honor of Black History Month, the Renton History Museum presents "A Series of Fortunate Events: The Charles Mitchell Story" by storyteller and actor Eva Abram.

Slavery in America is thought to have been limited to the South and Northeast. However, Washington State has its own experience of slavery.

Abram will share the story of a young boy named Charles Mitchell – how he came to the Northwest and how events almost led to an international incident with Canada.

Follow along as this rarely told story of Washington history and intrigue unfolds.

The suggested audience is 9 years through adult.

The event is scheduled for 5 p.m. Feb. 27 at the museum,  235 Mill Ave. S., Renton, WA 98057, one block south of Renton Library.

Programs are free with regular Museum admission, a suggested donation of $3 per adult and $1 per child, and always free for members.
