The Renton community came together last Thursday to honor Norma Cugini as the 2008 Citizen of the Year. Also honored at Renton Technical College were the 2008 Outstanding Citizens of the Year, Becky Nickels and Bob Bridge.

Cugini is a stalwart of the community, providing leadership in a number of organizations and efforts and helping numerous charitable organizations achieve their goals financially through her family’s gifts, including the Salvation Army Renton Rotary Food Bank and Service Center.

Nickels worked for the Renton School District for 21 years, including many years as a top aide to district superintendents. After she retired, she continued what has been a long career as a community volunteer. Bridge, the owner of Bob Bridge Toyota and Scion, has donated time, effort and money into helping Renton students improve their math skills.
