Two Renton elementary schools have been recognized for continuous student achievement by the state's Elementary and Secondary Act granted by the U.S. Department of Education.

Benson Hill and Kennydale elementary schools performed in the top 10 percent on state reading and mathematics tests for the past three years.

The schools have been recognized by the state's education office as "High-Progress Reward Schools" for sustained improvements in student achievement on state mathematics and reading tests.

They are among two percent of schools statewide recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
