Services are Saturday for Dr. Mitch Hungate, killed in avalanche

Services for Dr. William P. "Mitch" Hungate, 61, who died April 13 in an avalanche on Granite Mountain on Snoqualmie Pass, are on Saturday, June 1.

Services for Dr. William P. “Mitch” Hungate, 61, who died April 13 in an avalanche on Granite Mountain on Snoqualmie Pass, are on Saturday, June 1.

The service is at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 1700 Edmonds Ave. N.E., Renton. A reception will follow at the church hall.

Hungate practiced dentistry in Renton for 34 years.

Hungate was a member of The Knights of Columbus and a member of The Renton Rotary Club, serving as president in 1984.

He was an avid outdoorsman, climbing many of the world’s most challenging peaks.
