A fake business claiming to be a part of the Renton Reporter’s Best of Renton campaign is sending emails to local shops and businessowners asking for money to participate.

Sound Publishing is not sending these emails and would like its business partners to be aware of this scam.

Emails come from a website called bestbusiness.com and promises a spot in the Best of Renton directory for about $200.

The scammers are also asking the Reporter’s partners to purchase their winner plaques through them and to sign up for their directory.

“This is in no way part of the Renton Reporter’s marketing campaign,” Publisher Polly Shepherd said.

Anyone who receives this email is asked to contact the Renton Reporter’s advertising staff.
