King County unemployment rate up slightly in January

The unemployment rate in King County went up slightly last month, but overall King is still faring better than the state average,

According to a release from the Washington State Employment Security Department, the unemployment rate for King County rose to 6.3 percent in January, up from 6 percent the month before, but down from 7.5 percent in the same period last year.

Statewide, the unemployment rate sits at 7.5 percent.

The increase in January's rate is the first time since the July numbers that the county has seen an increase in unemployment.
